Pupils and staff at the recently opened Kents Hill Park Primary and Secondary welcomed Iain Stewart MP into their schools to give him a guided tour of their brand new state-of-the-art facilities and to discuss the hot political topics of the day.

The secondary school’s Head Boy, Head Girl and their Deputies accompanied Iain on his visit showing him various academic lessons taking place. He also met with the School Council to discuss issues facing young people in MK. Iain listened to the informed views of the school’s pupils on Brexit and he explained his role as MP for Milton Keynes South and the work he does as an Assistant Whip in Parliament.

Meeting with the CEO of the Kingsbridge Educational Trust, Peter Barnes and Kents Hill Park Headteacher, James Pilgrim, the MP was informed that the ‘all-through’ school is the latest addition to a group of high-performing and successful schools in the Multi-Academy Trust; James said:

“Kents Hill Park is an exceptional learning environment where our pupils have the very best opportunities to benefit from high quality teaching. I was delighted that Iain Stewart was able to visit during what is an extremely busy time in parliament. He observed the academic excellence that we provide and what the school has already achieved at the beginning of its journey in its first year.”

Following his visit Iain commented:

“I was delighted to visit the two schools and meet pupils enjoying their education. Given my love of music I was thrilled to see both schools with well-equipped music rooms and to find a grand piano in the dining hall at the secondary school was a real joy, particularly when I learnt students quite often just sit down to play. I was very impressed by the positive attitude and politeness of the pupils and was delighted that the schools have adopted and are promoting this culture. I look forward to visiting the schools as the number of pupils rises each year until planned capacity is reached; they will surely be vibrant seats of learning.”

Pupils at Kents Hill Park are aged 2 to 16. As an all-through school, the primary pupils are very familiar with the secondary school, which ensures their transition is seamless.
